Zellner’s tires crunched the frozen road that led to Roy’s. For some reason, no snow plow had gotten out during the night to push the ice and snow to the shoulders, as usually occurred in a storm like this. Then again, he thought, this one was the worst in his memory.
He was driving the station’s backup car, which was pretty much identical to the one he drove regularly. In the onslaught of the current sleet storm, the freezing windshield had narrowed his vision as the wipers unsuccessfully attempted to keep the glass clear. The problem most likely was that the defroster wasn’t up to standards. Zellner’s tires crunched the frozen road that led to Roy’s.
