Dave Trask and his sons watched television and snacked until falling asleep. Dave came awake with a start. He’d been dreaming of the board he’d found and how he was able to push it into the table.

He also dreamed of his arm turning green and then seeing his children beginning to turn the same, but he looked at them now and they were fine. Actually, Dave realized, he never felt better.

His mouth felt dry from sleeping, and he remembered seeing an assortment of soft drinks in the refrigerator. He entered the tiny kitchen and reached for the handle as he noticed his arm still had that faint glow. His hand passed through the handle into the icebox. He goggled at the weird image before him and was amazed that he could even feel the chill inside the icebox.

He backed up and flexed his fingers. His hand felt okay. He thought about calling out to someone, but he knew the man he’d spoken with was no doctor. What had just happened here in the kitchen was most likely the reason this Dr. Blender was keeping him and his kids locked up. Dave doubted that even the man’s name was real.

He went to the front door and was not surprised to find it locked. When he lifted the curtain and looked out the front window, he saw the so-called orderly looking back at him. The man, more likely a guard, smiled and nodded at Dave.
