Schizogenesis [chapter 31]
Minton had been with the agency a long time. In that time, he’d accumulated many aliases, credit cards and passports. With the bureau, however, he was handcuffed to a tight budget, having to fly coach and stay in mid-priced motels.
Not anymore.
After robbing the bank, he held a stash of cash. Why bother with a bistro? Even bank heists would be limiting. His future plans would not be confined to such lowly schemes.
He’d learned that the best way to hide was right out in the open. His false credentials weren’t known to the FBI so he felt safe enough.
Upon arriving in Dallas, he’d gone on a shopping spree, purchasing a new wardrobe, new luggage, and the finest hand-tooled western boots in the store. Decked out as never before, he’d taken the Presidential Suite at the Anatole. He figured on staying a couple of days while he became acclimated to this higher standard of living. Then it off to Hawaii, after a brief stop in Cozumel. First class, all the way.
The Presidential, of course, was on the top floor. Half the entire floor, actually. The only other available space at the top was the Ambassador Suite, and a famous actor and his vacuous wife had taken it for a week to celebrate the birth of their first son. A small security force ensured their privacy.
